Claire Kalia my friend and fabulous attorney is helping refugees help if you can

Hi all,

 

Please consider contributing to a project I am heading to provide backpacks of supplies to newly-arrived refugees.  Refugees affected by war, poverty and natural disasters arrive in the Bay Area with little or no money, clothes or supplies.  The Refugee Resettlement Project of Catholic Charities helps these refugees adapt to life in the US, and the first thing they do is provide the refugees with a backpack of much-needed supplies including toiletries, pens and a flashlight.  I am gathering ten backpacks full of supplies by mid-December and I need  your help.

 

Please see attached flier and consider donating any of the items listed below, or a cash donation.  Each filled backpack costs approximately $50 but any amount is much appreciated.

 

We need:

Ø  Toiletries:      Soap, Shampoo, Wide-Toothed Comb & Brush, Toothbrush, Toothpaste, Deodorant, Lotion

Ø  Pen, Pencil, Notebook

Ø  Local San Jose Street Maps

Ø  Small Flashlight with Batteries

Ø  A Roll of Quarters (for use in Laundromat or pay phone)

Ø  Small Address Book

Ø  Postage Stamps

Ø  Wallet

Ø  Bus tokens or cash for bus tokens

Ø  Pocket-Sized Planner (Calendar)

Ø  Small Alarm Clock with Batteries

Ø  Warm Socks

Ø  Handkerchief

Ø  A hand-written note from you welcoming a refugee to America!
