“What if?” After reading Never Eat Alone, I began to ask myself, "What if?"
We are living in a time of enormous change. It requires challenging the old perceptions and traditions. There are increasing opportunities for advancement and challenges for everyone willing to put forth the effort. Women's talents and leadership skills are slowly but surely being recognized.
I decided to stop asking “What if” and launch a women’s empowerment movement called Leading in Stilettos. Leading in Stilettos is about empowering women to lead in a male-dominated society while keeping their femininity. Sex-segregated play and other stereotypes often play a role in women failing to embrace their power. It is critical for women to know that they can compete like their male counterparts.
For women, stilettos are a statement of expression. They create the "Wow! factor" for that traditional corporate suit. Stilettos make women feel empowered and ready to lead. The heel on the stiletto is the equalizer that brings a woman eye-level to compete with her male counterparts.

Word! "Never Eat Alone" was also a seminal book for me (thanks, Keith). I spent 11 years as a freelance graphic designer in New York City eating alone 98% of the time. The fossilized image of myself as a lone gypsy out in the wilds just didn't work for me anymore - we are, in fact, hard-wired for connectedness – and I started to welcome a new way of living. I had to change since my health was failing and I was ready for the white walls. Why stay lonely, poor, and suffering? Instead of staying perennially angry that "nobody got me" I started to relax and offer my talents and skills to people and companies on all levels - even to those I considered beneath me. I was then met with unexpected lessons of growth and forward movement, all in the places and around the people that I LEAST expected it from!! It was magic. And it still is.
