Gregs weekly market and wine update

Good afternoon,

The capital markets were very quiet today with low volumes on this summer Friday. There were no economic reports.

The 3.5% MBS Coupon ended at 100.97 up 12bp and closed just near where it closed last Friday.

The 10 year Treasury closed at 2.58% down from 2.60% last week.

Stocks continued to drop with 4 days of losses in five and had their worst weekend since June.

The Dow fell 72.81 points on the day to 15,425.51, down from last week’s 16,558.

The S&P 500 dropped 6.06 points on the day to 1,691.42 while the Nasdaq finished the week at 3,660.10 down 9 points on the day.

Oil was last seen at $106.01/barrel up $2.62.

Most of the attached rates are down.

Wine

A recap of last Friday’s wine tasting upstairs. All purchased at K&L.

Usually, there are some clear winners identified not only by what people say but by which bottles empty the fastest. Not this time. It was a matter of personal preference, and all the bottles when down at pretty much exactly the same rate. All of them had just a little bit left at the end.

A very nice sparkling wine:

Very dry, crisp, with interesting flavors:
$12.99
A little sweet for a kabinett, but not cloying and very tasty. More people picked this as the favorite than any other wine:
$13.99
Pretty dry, interesting, good. For my taste as good as the other Txakolina but $5 less:
$12.99
Dry. The most complex and interesting of the wines. It got some votes for #1, and some for #6:
$14.99
Dry, interesting. Some preferred it to the other Txakolina, some preferred the cheaper one:
$13.99
$19.99
