After further review... The legendary Frank Sinatra often said that Tony Bennett was at the top of his list as the greatest singer ever. No argument here. Anthony Dominick Benedetto sings a beautiful song titled "The Music Never Ends" written by Alan and Marilyn Bergman. Its theme is: How do keep the music playing? It's a mantra for living. Tony, at 88, is still doing some fifty performances annually-a feat admired by many octogenarians as well as those wanting to be octogenarians.
As I watched sixty-four Diane Nyad walk out of the water on that Florida coast recently I never asked why; only just "Wow!" Nyad had failed in that same attempt - a swim from Cuba to Florida - four times previously. That 110-mile swim is something one doesn't take for granted. It is an inspiration to many; if a sexagenarian can be persistent, and achieve her goal, so can we.
As one ages the incentive and effort required to continue exercising tends to diminish. Many thought that my late friend, Jack LaLanne was crazy to perform physically as he did; he would be ninety-nine tomorrow, but left us at ninety-six! His wife, Elaine, carries on his fitness mantra today. This writer is an admirer of the LaLanne's efforts and determination as I am of Nyad's.
Keeping your body healthy with the anticipation of living a longer life sure seems like a good idea; yet how do you keep the music playing, how do you make it last, how do you keep it from fading too fast? Physical exercise on a regular basis is a good plan. Does that mean every day? Not necessarily, but setting a self-imposed schedule, then keeping that commitment to oneself, would be a good start. But wait, "I don't have the time!" you say. Time?
That's what an exercise plan can do for you, i.e., give you more time-- as in longevity! Your spirit is the determining factor, as it was for Nyad and the Lalannes. As I learned long ago, it's Mens Sana In Corpore Sano! For great inspiration and better information, pick up my colleague Tara Rayburn's just released book "100 Easy Healthy Habits".

Will you keep up your spirit so your body will do so as well?
