PAMF gets OK for new Fremont surgery; breaks ground in Los Gatos

The city of Fremont has given the OK for the Palo Alto Medical Foundation to build a new ambulatory surgery center.
In a sign of PAMF's continued growth here, the approval comes the same week PAMF broke ground on a new medical office center in Los Gatos.
Fremont's planning commission approval on Tuesday clears the way for PAMF to build the 20,400-square-foot building and 216-space parking structure on what is currently a parking lot at its existing campus at 3200 Kearny St. PAMF already has two medical office buildings there, totaling about 130,000 square feet.
The new center will include primary and specialty physician care, a GI procedure center and diagnostic imaging. "Currently PAMF surgeons and PAMF GI surgeons are not able to perform all outpatient surgical cases on PAMF's Fremont campus," officials wrote in a letter to the city earlier this year. "PAMF would like to build (the) new surgery center to bring all of those cases into the PAMF/Sutter Health system and improve care for the patient population."
On tap at the new facility will be four operating rooms and two endoscopy suites, 18 pre-op and post-op bays and five post-anesthesia care unit recovery bays.
In Los Gatos, PAMF's newest project broke ground Monday. The 40,000-square-foot project at 15400 Los Gatos Blvd. in the West Valley city will offer up primary care, pediatrics, urgent care, diagnostic imaging and lab services.
PAMF, a Sutter Health affiliate, is leasing the Los Gatos building from developer Sand Hill Properties, and WL Butler is the general contractor. Hawley Peterson Snyder is the architect.
PAMF has 1,400 affiliated physicians and 3,400 employees. The nonprofit says it serves more than 800,000 patients in Alameda, San Mateo, Santa Clara and Santa Cruz counties.
