Follow:       Episode 101 - The Backpack Ministry   On this week's episode, I have a very special guest explain an unconventional way to make a difference in your community.         A few episodes ago we mentioned the “Backpack Ministry,” and we’ve been overwhelmed with the response from people asking for more details on getting involved. Ours started after Hurricane Ivan devastated the town. Families at the school were concerned that some kids did not have enough food to eat. It’s a great community program that can be done anywhere since there is no agenda or administration—just people who help organize.   On Friday afternoon, food is placed very discreetly into the backpacks of the students that need it. Fruit cups, tuna packs, packages of oatmeal, cereal boxes, cheese and crackers, applesauce, juice, etc… The kind of food that kids can deal with on their own.   We don’t have to go very far to make a difference.
