Glam Media raises $25M, could be moving toward IPO

Samir Arora, chairman and chief executive officer of Glam Media Inc., has reportedly raised $25 million as he prepares to take the lifestyle digital publishing company public.

Glam Media, a lifestyle-focused digital media company, has reportedly raised $25 million in funding as it prepares for an IPO.
The "top up round" for the Brisbane-based company, according to TechCrunch, was led by Keating Capital with help from Hubert Burda Media. A top up round is typically extra money to help a company as it goes through an intial public offering.
Dan Primack of Fortune magazine, however, reported that his sources said the funding happened several months ago, before Glam made a confidential filing for an IPO.
Primack also reported that a 2013 IPO by Glam is unlikely, given the tepid reception for somewhat comparable IPOs by Millennial Media, Tremor Video and YuMe. His sources said a 2014 IPO is more likely.
Glam was founded in 2004 by Samir Arora, Rebecca Bogle Arora, Ernie Cicogna, Emmanuel Job, Susan Kare, Dianna Mullins, Raj Narayan, Fernando Ruarte and Vic Zaud.
It runs 3,400 lifestyle websites and blogs, primarily focused on women readers, including Glam, Brash, Bliss and Foodie.
Glam previously raised $150 million and bought Ning, Marc Andreessen's social networking startup, in 2011.
