pool as the centerpiece of your backyard

A Pool Is the Centerpiece of Your Custom Home Outdoor Living

Pool in deck of custom homeMany people ask why you would opt for a pool when you have a home on the beach or the river? Believe it or not, almost every single custom home we build on the waterfront is built with a pool of some shape, size or style. There are many reasons our homeowners want pools, even when the water is so accessible from their home. For starters, having a private area to swim, lounge and entertain guests is the perfect way to relax without the crowds of the beach all around. Spending the day at the beach is wonderful, we would all agree to that; however, sometimes it’s preferred to hang around by the pool and enjoy the sites and sounds of the ocean without putting your feet in the sand.
We all know that the lot sizes of waterfront property can be limiting as far as the amount of, and placement of, amenities outside of the home. With some creative design and land planning, we can provide enough space for the pool, which can be a focal point and centerpiece of the outdoor living area. Often times these outdoor living areas include things like full service kitchens and fire pits or fireplaces as well. There are many kinds of pools that we have been installing in our custom homes.
In Deck Pools – Including a pool in the deck area of a waterfront home is a great way to have easy access to the pool from the home. No need to climb downstairs to the back yard (which may actually be too small for a pool) and it also brings the pool up eight to ten feet high, which can help alleviate sand and sea water from seeping in during storms and rough weather. This works very well with outdoor living and kitchens, is convenient for BBQ’s, parties and every day use. Everyone wants the pool near the outdoor kitchen!
Spill Over Spas – A Spill over spa is the perfect complement to any deck or pool. While you are relaxing in a warm, therapeutic spa, your friends or kids can be splashing away and swimming beside you in the pool. These spas have special pumps and plumbing that allow them to circulate pool water. They constantly fill up with pool water, then waterfalls via the spillover channel to your pool. They work beautifully with flagstone or decorative decking.
Whirlpools – Another great compliment to a pool in your deck is a whirlpool spa. It’s a great place to unwind and enjoy casual enjoyment with guests and friends. There are many styles and sizes available in whirlpool spas, so be sure to discuss your needs with your builder before the design of the outdoor amenities area is competed on your home; otherwise there may be a problem adding it later.
Ocean front lots are nice for the sand and sun, but sometimes it’s nicer to be at your own private pool because of the convenience especially when entertaining company. Some other features for the outdoors that we have been seeing more requests for are Bocce Courts and generators. Planning the outside of your home is just as important as the inside and with more and more homeowners enjoying the outdoor lifestyle space planning is crucial.
