The supermarket chain will break ground Aug. 21, the company confirmed. The news was first reported by Mary Gottshalk of the Merc's Silicon Valley Community Newspapers division.
The project is slated to include a 27,291-square-foot grocery store with a separate 5,600-square-foot, two-story brewery building at the northwest corner of Stockton Avenue and The Alameda. (You can read more about the brewery part here.)
Residents in the area have wondered when the store would get going after several delays, and I probably field about one call a week asking when the store is going to happen, so it's nice to be able to pencil something on the calendar.
The grocery store is located close to where AvalonBay is finishing up construction of Morrison Park, a 250-unit apartment project.
