I saw this post in Facebook, and it got me to thinking. I suppose the intent of the unknown author is to suggest that people should not give in to their fears, and move forward in their attempts to reach their goals.
If that's the case, I would've worded it a bit differently. I would've probably alluded to Thomas Edison, who probably had more failures in his life than most people would've had attempts.
When I read this question, by initial thoughts were "why would I bother?", and "what satisfaction would there be?". The competitor in me wouldn't want to go into a sporting event or game knowing that the outcome was guaranteed. That would be very boring. The same is true in business. I don't want my results guaranteed, and I don't want my results to be the same as everyone else's. If that were the case, what would inspire me to perform even better, to come up with new ideas, new products, new inventions, or new ways to help benefit society as a whole?
One of the great things that we have in this country is the freedom to try. And if something fails, we have the freedom to try another thing. Ultimately, you have the ability to be rewarded, whether financially, spiritually, or whatever, when you do succeed. And you get to have a sense of accomplishment and satisfaction.
Success means different things to different people, which is good, and there are different levels of success. The key is to keep trying, and don't let occasional failures keep you down, and don't hope that someone else will "guarantee" your success. Over the years, a recurring theme I've heard involves the importance of goal setting, and putting down in writing very specific goals, then developing a written plan of action with due dates (refining as necessary) to accomplish those goals. Following this process inevitably leads to success.
