I came across a great article from a friend of mine that has terrific tips for engaging people with and on your Facebook Business Page. Almost everyone I work with has a Facebook business page, but how many are actually using it to engage with prospects and referral sources? Not many! So the 19+ tips from Chrystal Bougon, Owner of Curvy Girl Lingerie, The Bay Area’s first and only Plus Size lingerie store in Willow Glen, are just what you need. Don’t get overwhelmed. Pick a few and do them well before moving onto the next several. Because she has so many tips, here are tips 1 through 11. Look for tips 12 through 19 next week.

My 19 Tips for Engaging your Facebook Fans on Your Business Page By Chrystal Bougon
Here are some tips that I have learned over the past 5 years that have helped me to grow my Curvy Girl page from – 0 to over 4,750 fans in just 7 months in business. www.facebook.com/curvygirlinc
  1. *Post to your page 3 times a day*. Remember that not everyone logs into Facebook at the same time of day. Some people log in before work. Some log in after work. Some people stay logged in with their smart phones and get real active on their lunch hour. Some users are on the West Coast. Some are on the East Coast. So, really posting 3 times a day is the bare minimum. Be sure you post morning, noon and night.
  2. *STOP selling*. Everyone knows you run a business. They all know you are in a business of selling products or services. They LIKED your page knowing that. So, keep your SALES pitch to like 1 out of 10 posts.
  3. *Post pictures* of your products or you working. Include information for how your customers can buy your products or services. Posts with photos get something like 80% more engagement than text only posts.
  4. *Edu-tain your fans*. Be helpful. Solve their problems. Scratch their itch. Make them laugh. Be REAL. Entertain. Educate. How do your products or services solve their problems or fix their pain points?
  5. *People do business with people.* People do not do business with brands or businesses. They want to know you are human. Be authentic. Be honest when things go wrong. People like transparency and honesty.
  6. *Be consistent*. Post three times a day every day.
  7. *Re-purpose*. You can post the same post more than once. So be sure to re-SHARE older posts. Train your staff to go and LIKE your older posts. Get additional mileage from posts that had a lot of engagement and even re-share ones that didn’t get a lot of engagement. Have your employees go to your page and look for posts that are months old and “like” or “share.”
  8. *Spend 5 minutes a day liking other posts as your business*. Go to “edit page” and choose “use Facebook as xxxx your business” and spend 5 minutes each day liking, sharing and commenting on other business pages. This is especially useful when you have liked other businesses that are complimentary to yours. This is a great way to gain more fans or “likers.”
  9. *Be a resource for your fans.* We often ask questions of our fans like “Where do you Curvy Girls buy boots that fit larger legs” and we will get 45 to 75 comments from our fans who LOVE to help each other. It builds community and makes your page a page people want to check back with your business often. They want to get involved and engage with you and share your page with others because you are helping them.
  10. *FANS rarely come back to your actual* page once they have LIKED you. So, if you do not post consistently, they really will not remember that you are there. You have to post to get into their feed.
  11. *ASK *your fans to share your page with their friends. If you are a fab store with amazing customer service and you provide lots of useful information and resources for them – they will be excited to share this amazing resource FOR you. You want to turn your fans into brand advocates and have them SCREAMING at the TOP OF THEIR LUNGS how wonderful you are. And then look smart to their friends when they share your business.
