Payment technology startup Balanced
has reportedly added $2 million to its seed round with participation from Andreessen Horowitz.
Venturebeat reported that Menlo Park-based Andreessen
Horowitz' involvement was led by General Partner Jeff Jordan, the former PayPal
president. The new money brings the total raised by the San Francisco startup led by CEO Matin Tamizi to $3.4 million.
The company's technology runs in the background, so that consumers don't have to sign up for an account to use it.
Balanced was called PoundPay when
it went through Y Combinator’s Winter 2011 class. It launched
publicly in November 2012 with the start of its seed round coming from Ashton Kutcher, AirBnB CEO Brian Chesky, Yishan Wong, Y Combinator and SV
Angel.
