Foundation Capital has named former Twitter product manager Anamitra Banerji as a partner at the firm.
Banerji has been an Entrepreneur-in-Residence at the Menlo Park firm for the past year, consulting on investments. He also worked on the launch of Widescope, an early-stage research project at Stanford University that is focused on using crowd-sourcing to tackle federal and state budget deficit reduction.
At Foundation, Banerji will focus on startups in the communications, commerce, mobile and marketing technology sectors. These are areas he concentrated on as EIR.
Banerji was employee No. 30 at Twitter when he joined the company in March 2009. As its first product manager he built out the micro-blogging network's advertising team and incubated from scratch all three of its products - promoted tweets, promoted trends and promoted accounts.
Before joining Twitter, Banerji co-founded an online health company in India and served in roles at Overture, both before and after it was acquired by Yahoo.
