A day after Virgin America announced it was adding four-times-a-day service from San Jose to Los Angeles, Delta Air Lines confirmed it would also serve the market. This represents the first time Delta will operate LAX service out of Mineta San Jose International since 2008. Delta's new service will begin June 10.

Delta will fly four daily nonstops to LAX on Canadair CR-700 regional jets. The jets will offer nine first class seats, eight "economy comfort" seats and 48 seats in the main cabin, as well as Wi-Fi.
"It's really about demand in the marketplace," Delta spokeswoman Lindsay McDuff said. "We're seeing a lot of customers wanting to connect to Hawaii, Asia and Australia" (markets Delta serves out of LA).
San Jose city and airport officials, and Silicon Valley business groups such as the Silicon Valley Leadership officials, have been working on bringing more service to SJC, though the real prize is considered to be long-haul transcontinental and international flights.
So far, the biggest win has been All Nippon Airways' San Jose/Narita service, but that route is on hold because of the ongoing Dreamliner grounding.
Check back later for more details on the new routes including pricing.
