Social media errors dont be that guy

Oops, How Did That Happen?

Social media mess-ups are not limited to celebrities. For every Anthony Weiner or Alec Baldwin story that blows up because of a social media misstep, there are numerous instances of everyday people making similar mistakes we never hear about...but that doesn't make them any less offensive.
(OK, most of us have never been this offensive...but I still see some real head scratchers from real estate professionals every day)
We certainly don't have to tell you that sending inappropriate pictures of yourself, or posting homophobic rants on your twitter account won't be the best use of your social media time, but are there other landmines and pitfalls you can avoid?
There sure are. And one of the most frightening things about social media is you might not even realize you are doing anything wrong until it's too late. It may have seemed like a great idea at the time to send an open house invite to everyone you've circled up on Google+ (probably because you never created different circles, instead clumping everyone into one circle)...but was it really worth losing your ability to share content with half of your potential audience because they decided to mute you and no longer receive your notifications?

Let's Talk about It

In our Webinar on Wednesday July 24th at 10am Pacific Time (1pm Eastern) I'll be hosting Jeff Lobb, Exit Realty VP of Technology and Innovation to talk social media etiquette and best practices.
The thing about social media is there isn't an exact science on how to use it. It's more of a 'what are you comfortable with' kind of thing. Some of you may never think about sharing stuff about your kids while others freely share more than you ever would. And this might lead to some fun interactions between Jeff and me. Jeff has some ideas for you based on what he's seen in the industry and after chatting with him about the presentation, I'm not sure I agree with everything he has to say.
My goal on this call is to be the contrarian, and for Jeff and I to have some real conversations about the advice being dispensed (Do you hear that Jeff Lobb? I plan on challenging you on a few of these tips, so be ready my friend). We'll share some mistakes we see agents making on a daily basis and talk about ways that they may have acheived their goal in a more meaningful way.
We would love to have you join us...who knows, I might even share one or two of my own social media mistakes from over the years...
