Stanford University received its biggest individual donation to date this week. John Arrillaga, perhaps Stanford’s biggest fan, made a check out to the university for $151 million, making him the largest single donor in the school’s history.
That's not even the first time he's made a record-breaking donation.
While Arrillaga continues his trend of outgiving himself, there are a few other big-dollar donations that have played an important role in improving the campus.
Among the top five biggest donations is one that established the Knight Management Center, Stanford’s graduate school of business, and one that has helped implement new sustainability standards at the university.
The co-founder of Yahoo and the founder of Nike are two of the many alumni who have donated big bucks after getting their start on this ‘entrepreneur-esque’ campus.
Of course, Arrillaga might still be the biggest. A previous donation of his also appears on this list. (Maybe a name change to Arrillaga University is in order?)
