Peninsula
TeamWorks Series Fall 2013
We are pleased to announce that
for the Peninsula TeamWorks Series for Fall 2013 we will be focusing on
children and youth education in San Mateo County! This series which runs from
August 24 through October 26 will provide opportunities for volunteers to support
and learn about organizations focusing on improving education for children in
the region. TeamWorks fuses volunteer service projects, community issue
education and team-building activities to produce a unique, team-based
service learning program. Applications for our latest TeamWorks series will
be open from July 9 - July 26. Visit HOBA's
TeamWorks page for updates and more information.
PL
Spotlight - Peter Lollo
What's your favorite HOBA
project? The
gardening projects are my favorite because everyone appreciates the chance to
work with the earth and get dirty. We're out there swinging pick-axes,
shoveling, working up a sweat,... Read more...
New
Features at HOBA
HOBA is always looking for ways to
make your volunteer experience the best that it can be! Be on the lookout
soon for a couple of new ways to make your busy life of a volunteer a little
easier. One of the new features is a new Facebook page just for our
volunteers and PLs. Anyone can join our group but the information shared
between all of us will only be project related information. Are you signed up
to PL and can't make it? Post it on Facebook to find a replacement! Are you a
volunteer wondering what a certain project is like? Ask the group their
experiences! You get the idea; what a great and easy way to communicate with
one another. Also, soon we will be offering (for those interested) TEXTS to
your phone reminding you of your project coming up... how cool is that? Now
you won't ever be the person who forgot about their project! So keep your
eyes open for these new tools that will make helping our community a little
more easy!

Volunteers
(and PL!) Needed - LEND A HAND at Ravenswood Family Health Center's Community
Garden
Calling
all GREEN THUMBS! Help Ravenswood improve it's new community garden! This
garden serves as an educational and community garden for clients and staff at
Ravenswood Family Health Center. Ravenswood serves the surrounding community
by providing high quality, culturally competent primary and preventive health
care to people of all ages regardless of insurance, immigration status or
ability to pay. Volunteers will help prepare small beds for planting by
weeding and mulching in the new garden. There may also be an opportunity to
work indoors assembling medical charts for new patients. Read more...
Has
your Refund Arrived?
If
you're expecting a larger than usual refund check from your taxes, we hope
you might consider making a tax-deductible donation to HOBA. Your generosity
will be greatly appreciated!
