Quantance raises $12M to help speed mobile data

Vikas Vinayak, Quantance CEO, holds a tiny chip that will help improve mobile phones’ battery life and increase data speeds. The San Mateo company just raised $10 million in new funding.

Quantance, whose chips help speed data rates of mobile devices, said on Thursday it has raised another $12 million in venture funding.
The San Mateo company led by co-founder and CEO Vikas Vinayak said investors in this round include TD Fund, Granite Ventures, InterWest Partners and DoCoMo Capital. This brings the total raised to about $42 million.
Quantance's power supply chips are aimed at major smartphone manufacturers, helping them produce devices with faster data rates and better battery lives.
