Yahoo's Mayer eyeing Facebook, Google with personalized web content

Yahoo Inc. is targeting Facebook Inc. and Google Inc. users with a technology that will personalize people's Internet experiences, CEO Marissa Mayer told Bloomberg TV this week.
Mayer said the company is working on a way to create "interest graphs" that show common "likes" among people, package it together and send it right to the person's mobile device.

The move is an attempt to attract advertising revenue and users away from Facebook (Nasdaq: FB) and Google (Nasdaq: GOOG).
This is just one of the many updates Mayer has made to Yahoo (Nasdaq: YHOO) since taking over the company last July. Changes have included plans to hire smartphone and tablet-proficient engineers as well as acquisitions of mobile app Stamped, and this year, collections app Snip.it.
In the interview, Mayer also reiterated Yahoo's interest in strong partnerships, called out Apple as the gold standard of design, and discussed the trade-offs of online privacy. Watch the full video, below.
