It’s All About You

by Vicki Garcia on December 7, 2012
friendly business man pointing at you I need to clear something up. Remember when you asked me if I wrote that blog post about you? Well, I did. It’s totally about you. I wrote it hoping you would read it and recognize yourself in the words and then do something about it.
Oh, you don’t recall which post I’m referring to? See below.

The one where you’re The Problem
The one where People Don’t Like You
The one where you Piss People Off
The one where you’re a Victim
The one where you’re Telling Stories
The one where you’re Responsible
The one where you’re an Arrogant Jerk
The one where you Make Shit Up
The one where you’re a Drama Queen

Whew! Glad to get that off my chest! I feel so much better now that you know. Come on now, don’t be mad. I love you and I’m just trying to help. Really.

Are You A Drama Queen?

by Vicki Garcia on December 4, 2012
Woman in red cape with a megaphone Are you a drama queen? How would you know if you are? What are some tell tale signs that you’re a drama queen?

According to Dictionary.com, a drama queen is:
A person who often has exaggerated or overly emotional reactions to events or situations: ‘You’re such a drama queen! You always have to have all the attention.’

So, what are some ways to recognize a drama queen? A drama queen will generally:
*Make a big deal out of just about everything. –If you’re a little late, they are offended and make it mean something. If asked for help, they are put out by it. If you don’t ask for help, they will be put out by that, too. If you say you don’t care for bacon, they will find a way to make it about them and be upset about it. They will assume that if you disagree with them, it’s because you hate them.

*Blame others for their drama. –They feel misunderstood and wish everyone would just stop creating drama in their life. They are right and everyone else is wrong. Period.

*Assume life is hard. –Nothing seems to go right for them. There is always a story about something that went horribly wrong.

*Always have someone on their shit-list. –No one is safe. It’s only a matter of time before it’s your turn.

*See the negative in most people. –If you have a flaw, it will be noted.

*Overlook what’s right in their lives. –Focus primarily on what and who is wrong instead of appreciating what’s great.

*The person that everyone else complains to or tells their drama to. – Well, who else would you go to? No one else will listen.

These are just a few examples I could think of off the top of my head. Do you know a drama queen? What are some examples of drama queen behavior that you have observed?

As a public service, please forward this to any potential drama queens in your life. Watch out for that shit-list, though.
