Stolen or lost phones

Stolen or Lost Phone
Unfortunately, in today's society there is an increasing frequency of people stealing cell phones. Thieves are particularly interested in the iPhone and Galaxy models. Here are a few tips I thought I'd share with you. If your phone is lost or stolen these tips can save you much aggravation.
Download an app that allows you to find or, in the worst case, remotely wipe your phone. I personally use Find M iPhone from the Apple Store. It's free and will give you some comfort if the worst happens. Another great tool is https://www.lookout.com/. Perhaps the king of backing up computers (Carbonite) also offers a free app in the event you lose your phone or it's stolen. http://www.carbonite.com/lp/mktg/mobile.aspx
It helps to have information about your phone, too. Write down your phone's model number, serial number and unique device identification number - sometimes called an IMEI. The police and your carrier will want these numbers when you report the theft. To find them, go to Settings>>General>>About on iPhones and iPads and Settings>>System>>About on Androids. You can dial * to make the IMEI number pop up on some phones, too
