A Very DISTINCT Sales
Kickoff
The 2013 Sales Kickoff was a great success, with guest
speakers, dialogues with top producing loan officers and awards.
Likewise, the annual Staff Luncheon was an abbreviated version of the
same information - right down to the Minute-to-Win-It showdowns!
Before we talk about the award winners, we would like
to take a moment and congratulate the Set Up Department on their win
- Nikki proved that her little one loves to shake her booty!

Woman on FIRE
|
|
|
Congratulations to Eileen Horan of Mortgage
California's San Mateo branch for winning Affiliate of the Year for
the San Fransisco Women's Council of Realtors!
This is a huge accomplishment, as it is open to any
affiliate to the organization that is on the board. Eileen's
hard work and dedication have really paid off. Between this
award and being named Top Producer of the Year for Mortgage California,
this woman is on FIRE!

Cake Boss of RMR
When Alison Honda was a little girl, she loved to bake
with her grandma. She loved cookies, cakes and cupcakes and
most especially loved to make a mess in the kitchen!
When a family member was looking at bakeries to order
a special 60th birthday cake three years ago, Alison was horrified to
find that the bakery was going to charge nearly $500. She
looked at the photos of the cake her sister wanted to order and
thought, "Well, I can do that..." A couple of classes
at a local bakery store gave her the skills she needed and she was
off and running.
Alison worked as an intern at a bakery for a few
months where she was able to hone her skills. She began baking
cakes mostly for friends for fun. She hasn't been baking as
much lately because it's very time consuming (who in RMR Operations
has free time these days?), but she still loves to do it for special
occasions.
We're going to have to figure out a special occasion
over at corporate soon!

Green Thumbelina
Diana Dwarshuis admittedly has the greenest thumb in
the Los Gatos office. She has famously nursed back plants she
has found unceremoniously dumped by her fellow employees - even
returning them to the murderous original owners!
Diana's love of gardening started because she loved
flowers. She found that if she wanted flowers year round she'd
have to get her hands dirty! Over time, she found it to be
relaxing and now has a vegetable garden, fruit trees AND a flower
garden. Her favorite time of year is when the "back
40" as she calls it needs to be rototilled... that means it's
time to plant and she's that much closer to garden-grown salsa!
As many at corporate know, Diana not only takes care
of wayward plants, but she also brings baskets overflowing with fresh
fruit and veggies several times a year to share!

Bells are Ringing
Anna Marie Myers (Administrator at Princeton's new
Sacramento branch office) and Sonny Rodriguez were married on St.
Patrick's Day in their back yard in the Curtis Park neighborhood of
Sacramento. They were surrounded by 45 of their closest family
and friends, as well as Sonny's 7 year old daughter, Samantha.
After the vows were said, they each took a turn saying vows to
Samantha, and gave her a special necklace to commemorate the
occasion.
Sonny is a 1st Lieutenant in the Army and is currently serving in
Afghanistan. He flew in on the 15th, just in time for the
nuptials. After taking a honeymoon trip spanning Monterey all
the way to Tahoe, they returned to their home so that Sonny could
prepare to go back to Afghanistan on March 30th. He’ll be gone
until July, when he returns home for good!

Diehard Fan of the Black and Gold
Elvino Borba is hard to miss. He towers over
nearly everyone at the corporate office (rumor has it he's even
taller than Rob!), and he always has a huge smile on his face.
When you stop by to say hello, one of the first things you'll
notice is a giant Steelers sign front and center in his cubicle.
We asked him a few questions about his obsession with the
"Black and Gold" recently.
RMR:
How long have you been a Steelers fan?
Elvino Borba: I've
been a fan for more than 35 years.
RMR:
Why the Steelers? What attracted you to them at such a
young age?
EB:
When I was young the Steelers were in their prime.
Players like Terry Bradshaw, Franco Harris, Jack Lambert, Mean
Joe Greene and Lynn Swann shaped the way I viewed football.
Once I was a fan as a child, I was hooked!
RMR: Have
you ever been to a game in Pittsburgh?
EB: I've
actually been to two games. The first one was the last game at
Three Rivers Stadium against the Washington Redskins. This was the
last game at the old stadium - it was demolished afterwards. It
was a great, albeit overwhelming, experience I'll never forget.
The people of Pittsburgh are amazing - they are
diehard fans! I was given a tour of the city with a Rep I dealt
with at a company I used to work for. They had season tickets
and invited me to come for a game. I also got a tour of the
Steel Factory and saw the entire process of steel making, from
melting down to the finished product.
RMR:
Why do you stay faithful after all these years? Why not
support a local team?
EB:
I've been faithful to the Steelers as long as I can remember.
You can't just stop supporting your team when the going gets
tough. Even when there were some really rough losing years in
the 80's and 90's I stuck it out. I'll always be part of the
Steelers Nation!
