The online publication said someone provided it a screen image of what appears to be Uber's internal dashboard of metrics for "Uber Global," including revenue, signups, active clients, and ride requests versus ride completions, for a period between mid-October and mid-November. Nobody from Uber was immediately available for comment.
The screenshot was "taken while one of [Uber's] employees helpfully logged into their admin console from my computer," the anonymous tipster reportedly told Valleywag, which did not know whether the numbers covered all of Uber's products—Uber Taxi, UberX, Uber Black Car and Uber SUV. Founded in 2009, Uber has raised $307 million and has been growing at breakneck speed, with service now live in 71 cities.
Valleywag cited several factors indicating that the screenshot was real, including that the dashboard appears to be a custom built tool off the Uber.com website, and when a reporter tried to access the site, at one point a picture appeared of Uber CEO Travis Kalanick in "an all-white lightbulb costume."
