PayPal buys San Francisco-based StackMob

StackMob and its team will move to San Jose.
The startup, founded in 2010, has raised $7.5 million with investors including Trinity Ventures, Harrison Metal, Baseline Ventures, Founder Collective and Charles River Ventures. It is led by CEO Ty Amell, who previously managed mobile teams at imeem.
StackMob makes tools that help developers build mobile applications using HTML5 hosting, location-based services, custom code, API metrics and others, TechCrunch notes. A near competitor is Facebook-owned Parse.
"We believe that with the addition of the talented team from StackMob, we’ll move even faster in creating, testing and deploying products that aim to transform payments for customers around the world," wrote PayPal CTO James Barrese in a company blog post.
