Google Ventures tallied 75 new fundings, 9 exits in 2013

The four-year-old fund will get another $300 million to invest in 2014, the same amount it got for this year, and has $1.2 billion under management now. It has backed a total of 225 companies.
A report by CB Insights in August said that Google Ventures was the most active corporate VC firm in the last two years.
Most of the new investments for the year (28 percent) came in the mobile sector, followed by consumer Internet and commerce (each with 18 percent).
Google Ventures biggest deal of the year was the $258 million funding of San Francisco transportation startup Uber in August, which it did with TPG.
It also backed AngelList's $24 million funding round in the fall.
Among the portfolio companies that did IPOs this year are RetailMeNot, Silver Spring Networks and Foundation Medicine. Companies that were acquired include Parse by Facebook, Astrid by Yahoo and Makani Power by Google itself.
Among the new partners brought on board were former TechCrunch writer MG Siegler, Shanna Tellerman and Dave Munichiello. Andy Wheeler and Blake Byers were promoted to general partner.
Managing Partner Bill Maris was named one of the Business Journal's 40 Under 40 honorees this month.
