Keith's book, Never Eat Alone, has changed my life forever. I grew up
in a drug-infested neighborhood in Pittsburgh, PA, where I believed that the
only way to be successful was to sell drugs. Practically everyone I knew sold
drugs or struggled to work a dead-end job. Gang life was deeply rooted in my
neighborhood and as a result I joined as a way to escape the problems within my
household. The gang life violence I experienced has taken the lives of 56 of my
peers and nearly cost me my life on two occasions, once at 16 yrs old and the
other at 22 yrs old. Fighting for my life in ICU for 5 weeks, I attempted to
change my life and failed. I went to prison three times and again attempted to
change my life but ultimately failed. I couldn't figure out how, or what I was
doing wrong. I searched aimlessly on ways to transform my life. It wasn't until
I came across Never Eat Alone that I began to reflect on my life.
Deeply rooted within my soul was pain and resentment. I was spiraling down unaware of the ramifications until I hit rock bottom. After soul searching, I realized that I had to forgive and love those who I resented. But first I began to love myself and life. Keith taught me to reach out and utilize my networks. I analyzed my mistakes and regrets then initiated the will to let go and the power to think positively about my future. These vital tips helped me mend relationships and build new ones. Confidence sprang and soared within me and life slowly changed before my eyes. New opportunities arose. My peers and family began to admire my ambition to succeed.
I now live each day to help others transform their lives through my art work by giving hope through despair, by giving motivation and positivity in negative times. I owe it all up to Keith and his book Never eat alone. Thank you Keith!
