The hotel search engine picked up stealthy startup CheckMate and, with it, founder Drew Patterson.
Patterson will lead the Mountain View company and also incorporate the technology from CheckMate, a mobile software company whose technology lets hotel guests check in with their mobile phones. CheckMate’s staff - three others not including Patterson - will also join Room 77.
Patterson was a VP of marketing at travel metasearch site Kayak. He also founded and was CEO of Jetsetter, a company offering flash sales in the travel industry.
Room 77 was founded by Brad Gerstner in 2011 and, to date, has raised $43.8 million. It is entirely focused on the hotel space. CheckMate is its third acquisition - while still in stealth, the company acquired TripKick and OpTrip in 2010.
Shana Lynch is Managing Editor at the Business Journal. Her phone number is 408.299.1831.
