Reading Keith's book, Never Eat Alone, a few years ago was
life-changing for me. Not only professionally, but also personally.
After reading the book I sat down and for the first time in my life, made a list with friends, their partners, co-workers, customers, neighbors, business acquaintances, even the parents of my son's classmates were on that list. I wrote down their birthdays, their contact details and their interest points. I always thought I didn't know many people, and seeing that list with more than 300 names on it definitely changed my mind.
After finishing that list I was truly amazed, but didn't know well what to do with it. It was near Christmas, so I though this list could be useful to know how many Christmas cards to buy. It was the first time I didn't think of it two days before Christmas Eve, but sent the cards at the beginning of December instead. The response was fantastic! Then I started doing the same with birthdays cards (and phone calls).
Since then I can truly say that this list (and the knowledge of how to use it) has strenghtened my family and friendship bonds. On the business-side of life, I know exactly who is in my circle now and I look at the list regularly to ping my contacts every now and then. This helps me staying in touch with former teammates and bosses, to write a short message if I see something in the news that concerns them, and to be helpful if they need something from me.
Living in Europe now this list has grown and has become even more international. Many thanks Keith for that life-changing book!
