What do you do when you own a Hawaiian island?
You buy an airline to fly to it, obviously.
That's what Larry Ellison did. The world's 6th richest man and official biggest baller in tech on Tuesday purchased Island Air, a regional airline in Hawaii. According to a statement by Island Air, there will be no staff changes or layoffs after the sale. No price was disclosed.
Ellison has been pouring money into Hawaii lately, purchasing the island of Lanai from David Murdock late last year for a price rumored to be around $500 million. The Oracle founder said he plans to use the island to conduct experiments in sustainable living.
As you might have guessed from the above, Ellison is no stranger to extravagant purchases. Click through the slideshow at right to see some of his other toys.
