The Skinny: Just weeks after a cadaver dog detected traces of human remains in the basement, the Lloyd Wright-designed Sowden House has returned to market, asking $4.89M. According to ex-LAPD detective Steve Hodel, his father, Dr. George Hodel, killed Elizabeth Short in the house, in what is now widely known as the Black Dahlia murder. The case remains unsolved, but the dog's keen nose seems to have been enough to convince the current owner to move on—or they simply tired of living amid the Mayan-inspired architecture. The cloud of mystery surrounding the house is reflected in the gloomy listing photos, which show off the updates and renovations conducted by the previous owner, designer Xorin Balbes, who sold off the house in 2011 for $3.85M. Originally constructed by Frank Lloyd Wright's son, Lloyd Wright, in 1926, the 5,600-square-foot block structure has five bedrooms and six bedrooms.
