How is your business managing it’s company’s name and online reputation?
Online business as it’s known today is still relatively new. It used to be much easier for a business owner to manage their company’s name and reputation before the Internet took off in the early 2000′s. In the few years it has been around, it has affected the way businesses conduct sales, marketing, advertising and more. Managing your company’s name and online reputation has become a new aspect of business. After all, Yelp has been around for less than ten years! Below are our three top tips to help you manage your company’s name in today’s business world.
1. Use tools. It is important to always stay on top of what is being said about your business, but there is no sense in spending valuable time searching the web everyday to see what comes up. Google Alerts are a simple and free way to let the results come directly to your inbox. Tech Republic came out with five other useful tools to help you manage your company’s name and reputation online. Armed with the right tools, taking action can be a proactive instead of reactive approach to handling your online reputation.
2. Get active on social media. At this point, all serious businesses have a Twitter account or Facebook Fan Page; this goes a step further. Now more than ever when a customer is dissatisfied, the complaints are taken to the web for all others to see. It is vital to learn how to turn your social media sites from a negative venting outlet to a positive customer service experience. This blog post can show you how.
3. Respond accordingly. The Huffington Post makes a great case for two situations that could happen when someone leaves a negative comment online: either give it your best shot at making the situation right for the client or leave the comment alone. Sometimes it may be best to not draw any extra attention to the matter. But remember most of the time, “People are forgiving when you ‘fess up and make an effort.”
