The Skinny: Though acclaimed Mexican architect Luis Barragán passed away in 1988, his inventive use of color amid minimalist architecture continues to influence the work of later architects. This Northern California compound mixes Barragán-style "contemporary Mexican" exterior elements with a more traditional interiors. Sprawling over 7,800 square feet, with five bedrooms and seven bathrooms, the main house is joined by a two-bedroom guest house on the 13.6-acre property, all with breathtaking views of Sonoma wine country. Although it wasn't designed by the Pritzker Prize-winning Barragán, this property still commands the starchitect-worthy price of $8.9M.
