The Big Game of Small Business
Small businesses are a crucial part of our economy. They are the economy’s
unsung heroes, making up 99% of all U.S. employers, and employing 50% of all
private sector workers.
Yet the numbers only tell part of the story. Small businesses also serve as vital threads weaving together communities, families and neighborhoods. My guess is that each of you reading this can easily think of a small business that plays an important role in your life and makes your community a better place to live.
Intuit, where I serve as CEO, is a company committed to serving small businesses. I don’t often write about specific Intuit programs here, but I am so excited about a new opportunity we just launched for small businesses that I wanted to share it here.
Small Business Big Game is a program designed to give the 29 million small business owners in the U.S. the opportunity to share their stories and their passion with other entrepreneurs. It gives them a voice, individually and collectively, while recognizing them for the hard work and the contributions they make each and every day. And it will culminate with one small business getting the chance of a lifetime, a 30-second television ad during professional football’s biggest game on February 2!
For any of you who have a small business in your life –whether it’s your own, a friend or family members, or just one you frequent as a customer – I wanted to bring your attention to the opportunity presented by Small Business Big Game. This isn’t just about giving away an ad on football’s championship game – it’s also about giving small businesses a platform to share, learn and celebrate the contributions made each day by small businesses. And every small business owner who participates will receive free tools and resources to help them succeed.
I have already been inspired by many of the stories small businesses have submitted on the platform – and I encourage any of you with a story to tell to share it as well. Small businesses are the backbone of our communities and ultimately the U.S. economy, and it’s time we celebrate their efforts and passions. I can’t wait to hear the stories and recognize one with the ultimate reward on game day.
