After a five-year hiatus, the Santa Clara County Association of Realtors is slated to hold its annual convention and trade show Sept. 19. It's the largest Realtor convention in Northern California, with some 2,000 members expected to attend the free event.
"It's really meant for Realtors
and also our affiliates -- everyone from lenders, inspectors, even the termite
guys," Carl San Miguel,
president of the Santa Clara County Association of Realtors, told me Tuesday.
"It's an opportunity for them to show us their wares, and give us exposure."
In addition to the expo featuring
more than 80 exhibitor booths, the event will include speakers discussing the
state of the industry and its future. They include Tony Ventura, a real estate
attorney with Miller Morton Caillat & Nevis LLP; Ken Fears, an economist for the
National Association of Realtors; Don Faught, the 2013 president
for the California Association of Realtors, and Carole Rondoni, president of
Bamboo Consulting.
Membership in the county association, at about 5,200, is stable these days,
but still down from a peak of roughly 10,000, San Miguel said. Still, the upturn
in the housing market and prospect of better days ahead made this a good time to
resurrect the convention.
