The Skinny: The 154-acre Quiet Lake estate is one of the largest properties recently offered in the tony NYC suburb of Wilton, Conn., but passerby may never know it, as the sprawling tract is densely wooded and hidden behind a set of automatic gates. The centerpiece is a 10,000-square-foot Tudor-style mansion—built in 1928 and rebuilt six decades later—which houses 11 bedrooms, ten bathrooms, a 2,000-bottle wine cellar, two-bedroom staff quarters, and even a "flower-cutting room." Nearby are two 2,000-square-foot guest cottages, each with three additional bedrooms, and the crowning glory, a modern barn designed by Bartholomew Voorsanger and framed in "the finest mahogany." That barn has 11 stalls, two tack rooms, a bedroom, five bathrooms, a full kitchen, and a lofty entertaining room with a wall of glass facing a nearby waterfall. An eight-car garage provides plenty of parking, but the owner seems to favor helicopter commuting, with not one, but two helipads. The seller is Turi Josefsen, ex-wife of healthcare entrepreneur Leon Hirsch, and once the highest-paid female executive in America. A prime property collector, Josefsen recently reduced the price of her Wyoming ranch to $14.9M, but is hoping for much more from this Connecticut spread, asking $42M.
